Burp

Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and NL APPS for the use of the Burp app and website. By using Burp, you accept them. Please read section 2 carefully: it says what Burp is, and what it is not.

Burp is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Summaries, trends and Ask Burp answers describe what has been logged. They may be incomplete or wrong, and they never replace the judgement of your pediatrician or another health professional. Not medical advice, ask your pediatrician.

If you are worried about your baby, or in an emergency, call your pediatrician or your local emergency number right away.

1. Publisher

Burp is published by NL APPS, Société par actions simplifiée unipersonnelle (SASU) with a share capital of 1 000 €, registered under SIREN 933 511 206 with the Paris Trade and Companies Register, whose registered office is at 14 rue Bausset, 75015 Paris, France. Full details are on our legal notice.

2. What Burp does, and what it does not do

Burp lets you and the people you invite keep a shared log of a baby's feeds, diapers, sleep, pumping, solids, medicine, growth and notes. You log with buttons, or, if you turn on AI logging, with a typed or spoken sentence.

When you log with a sentence, an artificial intelligence model interprets what you said. It can misunderstand a word, a time or an amount. Burp shows you what it understood so you can check and correct it. Numbers shown in summaries, trends and Ask Burp are calculated from the entries in your log, so they are only as accurate as those entries.

Burp describes; it does not judge. It does not establish a diagnosis, does not say whether something is normal or enough, does not recommend a treatment, and does not create a care relationship. You remain responsible for decisions about your child's health, which you should take with a health professional.

3. Eligibility and account

You must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to use Burp. You can start without an account, but until you save your log with an account (Apple, Google or email), it is tied to this phone and may be lost if you remove the app. You agree to give accurate information and to keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.

4. Your household

You can invite other people to your household with a link or a code. Everyone in the household sees the whole log of its babies, can add and edit entries, and sees who logged what. Only invite people you trust to see this information. Parents can change roles and remove members. When a member leaves, the entries they logged stay in the shared log.

5. Free plan and Premium

Logging with buttons is free, without a time limit. AI logging (sentences and voice), widgets, Lock Screen, Siri and the other quick logging shortcuts are part of Premium.

Premium adds features described in the app at the time of purchase, such as Ask Burp, night summaries and trends, importing your history from another app, sitter and grandparent roles, and AI logging without the free daily limit. Premium features are subject to reasonable, personal use.

6. Subscription, price and free trial

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, offered as a monthly plan or an annual plan. On the date of these terms, the prices in the United States are $12.99 per month or $89.99 per year. Prices may vary by country and currency, and taxes may apply. The price that applies is the one shown in the app, in your local currency, before you confirm the purchase.

Free trial. The annual plan includes a 7 day free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid annual subscription, charged at the end of the trial. The monthly plan has no free trial. Trial eligibility follows the rules of Apple and Google.

Family included. One Premium subscription covers everyone in the subscriber's household, through the Burp household, not through Apple Family Sharing. A member who leaves the household no longer benefits from it.

The subscription is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play, depending on where you downloaded the app. We never receive your bank details. We may change our prices; a change applies only to future renewal periods, after you are informed, and never to a period already paid for.

7. Automatic renewal and cancellation

The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, for the same length, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the end of the current period.

You can cancel at any time, without giving a reason. Cancellation is managed in your store account. In Burp, Settings, Manage my subscription takes you there.

  • On iPhone or iPad: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, then Burp, then Cancel Subscription.
  • On Android: Google Play, then your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then Burp, then Cancel subscription.

After cancelling, Premium stays active until the end of the period already paid for. Uninstalling the app or deleting your account does not cancel the subscription.

8. Right of withdrawal and refunds

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. Because Premium is digital content supplied immediately, you expressly ask for it to start as soon as you subscribe, and you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once supply has begun, in accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code. The free trial lets you try Premium before any payment.

Refunds are handled by the store that billed you: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or Google through Google Play. We cannot refund a store purchase ourselves, but write to us at nahel@nl-apps.com and we will support your request.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings, Delete my account. If you are the only member of your household, the whole log is deleted; otherwise the other members keep the shared log. The details are in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription: cancel it first in your store account (section 7).

10. Your content

What you log remains yours. You give us only the rights needed to store it, sync it with the members of your household, and process it to provide Burp's features, including AI logging and Ask Burp when you use them. We do not use your log to train AI models. You can export your whole log as a CSV file at any time in Settings.

You confirm that you have the right to log the information you enter, in particular as the parent or a caregiver of the baby concerned.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Burp unlawfully, not to try to get around its technical protections or limits, not to access another household without being invited, not to extract its content in bulk or by automated means, and not to resell access to it.

12. Intellectual property

The Burp app, its name, logo, interface, texts and software are protected by intellectual property law and remain our exclusive property. We grant you a personal, non exclusive, non transferable licence to use the app for your private use.

13. Availability and liability

We do our best to keep Burp available, without guaranteeing uninterrupted access. Maintenance, an incident at one of our providers or force majeure may interrupt it. Keep in mind that an entry can be missing or wrong, for example after a misunderstood sentence.

We are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of the log, a summary or an answer from Ask Burp, nor for indirect damage. Within the limits allowed by law, our total liability is capped at the amount you paid for Burp in the twelve months before the event giving rise to liability. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, bodily injury, or any liability that cannot be excluded under the law of your country.

14. App stores

If you downloaded Burp from the App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and these terms are between you and NL APPS only, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Burp. If you downloaded it from Google Play, the Google Play terms also apply.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, after informing you when circumstances allow. You can stop at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The date at the top shows the version in force. We will tell you about any substantial change in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept it, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before that date.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.

In case of a dispute, contact us first at nahel@nl-apps.com. If no solution is found, you may use a consumer mediation service free of charge. The name and contact details of the mediator appointed by NL APPS will be provided on request and published on this page as soon as the membership is finalised. Failing an amicable settlement, the competent courts are those designated by the applicable rules of jurisdiction.
